IUPAP Young Scientist Prize in Quantum Electronics

The IUPAP Commission on Quantum Electronics C17 is presently soliciting nominations for its biennial Young Scientist Prizes in Quantum Electronics to be presented at the International Optics & Photonics Taiwan Conference in Zhongli, Taiwan, on 5-7 December 2013.

Two prizes will be awarded for outstanding contributions to quantum electronics and its applications made by young scientists with a maximum of 8 years of research experience, counted from the nomination deadline…

Young Scientist Award in Statistical Physics

The Young Scientist Prize in Statistical Physics, established by the C3 Commission on Statistical Physics of the IUPAP, recognises outstanding achievements of scientists in the early stages of their career in the field of Statistical Physics.

Up to three awards will be presented at the Statphys25 conference, which will be held in Seoul, Korea, 22-26 July 2013. To be eligible for the Prize, nominees must have received their PhDs not more than eight years prior to July 1, 2013, and are expected to have displayed significant achievement…

Space science themed student contest lifts off

Odysseus – the pan-European space-science contest for 14-18 year olds – has officially launched. Participants- in teams of up to five students and one teacher – are invited to design and demonstrate a space-themed project under one of the following three topics: “the solar system”, “spaceship – global cooperation” and “the co-evolution of life”.

The project aims to engage European students with the excitement of “the final frontier”, by combining creativity, innovation and intelligence…

Call for 2012 IUPAP C11 Young Scientist Prize

Nominations are now open for the IUPAP Young Scientist Prize for the Commission of Particles and Fields (C11). The prizes, of which there are two given each year, are presented in recognition of outstanding young experimental or theoretical particle physicists.

The awards, consisting of a medal and 1000 euros in prize money, will be presented at the 36th International Conference on High Energy Physics, which is being held in Melbourne, Australia on 4-11 July this year…

European contest to attract youths to space science
