EPS Hannes Alfvén Prize 2017 – Nominations are open

Nominations for the EPS Hannes Alfvén Prize 2017 “For outstanding contributions to plasma physics” are now open.

The prize was established by the EPS Plasma Physics Division in 2000 and is awarded for research achievements which have either already shaped the field of plasma physics or have demonstrated the potential to do so in future. To recognize collaborative research, a group of up to three individual scientists may be nominated.

Nominations for Editor-in-Chief of EPL are open

Nominations are now open for the Editor-in-Chief of EPL, a leading global letters journal owned and published by a consortium of 17 national physical societies in Europe. The Editor-in-Chief [EiC] needs to be a recognised authority and leading researcher in a field of physics, and have a broad knowledge and interest in physics and its frontiers. The EiC will need to demonstrate strong commitment and leadership to further develop EPL as a top-ranking journal. Experience with the editorial process for a physics journal is also desirable.

EPS Emmy Noether Distinction: nominate an outstanding physicist

In 2013, the European Physical Society [EPS] launched the Emmy Noether Distinction to recognise noteworthy women physicists.

Emmy Noether was an influential theoretical physicist, and a role model for future generations of physicists. The laureates of the Emmy Noether Distinction are chosen for their capacity to inspire the next generation of scientists, and especially encourage women to handle careers in physics.

Call for EPS Fellows, Honorary Members and Gero Thomas Medal 2016

Call for nominations for the EPS Condensed Matter Division Europhysics Prize 2016

The EPS Condensed Matter Division Europhysics Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Condensed Matter Physics has been presented annually since 1975 by the European Physical Society, and has become one of the most prestigious awards for condensed matter physics in Europe.
The selection committee is pleased to request nominations for the 2016 EPS Condensed Matter Division Europhysics Prize. The prize laureates will receive a cash award, as well as an invitation to attend and present their work at the 26th Condensed Matter General Conference (CMD 25) that will take place in Groningen, the Netherlands, from September 5th through September 9th, 2016.

Kavli Prize – Call for Nominations 2016

The call for nominations for the 2016 Kavli Prizes is open from September 1 through December 1, 2015. The winners of the 2016 Kavli Prizes will be announced June 2, 2016 and the award ceremony will take place in Oslo, Norway on September 6, 2016.
Nominations for the Kavli Prizes should be submitted to The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters by way of the online nomination form.

Call for nomination of EPS president-elect

A number of vacancies will arise on the European Physical Society [EPS] Executive Committee in 2016, including the position of President-elect. According to the EPS bylaws, a Selection Committee has been created to establish a list of candidates for the replacement of outgoing members, and for the President-elect.
