Statphys 2016 will take place in Lyon (FR) from 18-22 July 2016. The 26th IUPAP international conference on Statistical Physics [Statphys 26] will cover a wide range of topics including traditional aspects of statistical mechanics, such as applications to hard and soft condensed matter, phase transitions, disordered systems and non-equilibrium physics, as well as emergent and modern applications such as turbulence, signal processing, complex systems and mathematics.

Exhibition on Radu Balescu’s life

An exhibition on Radu Balescu’s life (1932-2006) was held from 6-20 May 2014 at the Library of Human Sciences of the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. Radu Balescu was the first laureate of the EPS Hannés Alfven Prize for his outstanding scientific work in the field of statistical physics of charged particles and of controlled fusion. This exhibition was first shown at the Library of the Academy of Sciences of Romania in September 2012.

Radu Balescu was born in 1932 in Bucharest, Romania, of a Belgian mother, and acquired Belgian nationality…

The International conference on Statistical Physics [SigmaPhi2014] will be held from 7-11 July 2014 in Rhodes, Greece.
The conference will cover all the topics of statistical physics: foundations and theoretical aspects of classical, quantum and relativistic statistical physics and thermodynamics; applications to physical systems; applications to non-physical systems. The SigmaPhi2014 conference is organised in symposia dealing with general aspects and applications. Some workshops will cluster talks dedicated to special topics and poster sessions will be also part of the programme.

The Young Scientist Prize in Statistical Physics, established by the C3 Commission on Statistical Physics of the IUPAP, recognises outstanding achievements of scientists in the early stages of their career in the field of Statistical Physics.

Up to three awards will be presented at the Statphys25 conference, which will be held in Seoul, Korea, 22-26 July 2013. To be eligible for the Prize, nominees must have received their PhDs not more than eight years prior to July 1, 2013, and are expected to have displayed significant achievement…

Marian Smoluchowski Symposium

The 25th Marian Smoluchowski Symposium on Statistical Physics will be held at the Collegium Novum, Jagiellonian University, Kraków on 9-13 September this year. This year, the conference is devoted to fluctuation relations in non-equilibrium regimes.

Nominations are open for the Boltzmann Award, of the Commission on Statistical Physics [C3] of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics [IUPAP]. The prize is given in commemoration of outstanding achievements in statistical physics.
