The 39th European Physical Society Conference on Plasma Physics and the 16th International Congress on Plasma Physics will be held at the Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre in Stockholm, Sweden on 2-6 July this year.

Topics under discussion at the event include: beam plasmas, complex plasmas, dusty and low temperature plasmas, fusion plasmas, fusion research, high energy density plasmas, inertial confinement fusion, laser-plasma interaction, magnetic confinement fusion, plasma applications and technologies plasmas in astrophysics and quantum plasmas…

Call for C16 Young Scientist Prize in Plasma Physics

Nominations are now open for the 2012 C16 Young Scientist Prize in Plasma Physics of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics [IUPAP]. The prize will be given in recognition of exceptional achievement in the study of plasma physics by a scientist in the early stage of their career.

The award, consisting of a certificate, medal and 1,000 euros in prize money, will be presented during the opening session of the EPS/ICPP conference, which is being held in Stockholm on 2-6 July this year…

Nominations open for Plasma Physics Division election

Nominations are now open for six positions on the board of the European Physical Society Plasma Physics Division. The duties of the Plasma Physics Division board members are “to promote excellent in research by rewarding researchers who have achieved outstanding scientific or technological results; to coordinate activities with other physical societies; to regularly attend board meetings; and to become individual members of the European Physical Society.”

These elections follow on from the appointment, last December, of Sylvie Jacquemot as the upcoming chair…

Call for new Landau-Spitzer plasma physics prize

Nominations are now open for the first Landau-Spitzer award for outstanding contributions to plasma physics. The award, which is being given jointly by the American Physical Society and the European Physical Society, celebrates the long-standing collaboration between the societies in the field of plasma physics.

The prizes, which may be given to individuals or teams of up to four people, will be presented at the opening session of the 16th International Congress on Plasma Physics, which is being held in Stockholm on 2 July this year…

Alfvèn and Plasma Physics Innovation Prizes

The winners of the 2011 EPS Alfvèn Prize and the EPS Plasma Physics Innovation Prize have been announced by the EPS Plasma Physics Division. The awards are to be formally presented at the EPS plasma physics conference in Strasbourg on 27 June.
