The European Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics [CLEO®/Europe] and the European Quantum Electronics Conference [EQEC] 2015 will be held at the International Congress Centre in Munich, Germany, from 21-25 June 2015.

The CLEO®/Europe-EQEC conference series has a long tradition as a gathering of optics and photonics researchers and engineers in Europe. Held every two years, CLEO®/Europe-EQEC conference has become the benchmark conference where researchers from around the world present their most groundbreaking results in a wide range of areas in fundamental optics and applied photonics.

CLEO®/Europe emphasizes applied physics, optical engineering and applications of photonics and laser technology whereas EQEC emphasizes basic research in laser physics, nonlinear optics and quantum optics. With recent advances in optical sources, new materials and novel approaches to manipulating and controlling light, 2015 promises to be the most exciting conference yet.

As part of the conference programme, a series of short courses is offered that will cover a range of topics of interest to conference attendees and those attending the other conferences within the World of Photonics congress and the Laser World of Photonics trade fair in Munich. Short courses are typically 3.5 hours in duration and they are usually targeted at individuals with limited or no background knowledge of the short course topic, but with a basic knowledge of lasers and optics.

A survey regarding the topics of the short courses, open all interested individuals, is ongoing. The survey results will help the organisers in developing the short course programme.

Abstracts can be submitted from 17 October 2014 to 19 January 2015.
Participants will benefit from a discounted fee by registering before June 2015.

Further information can be found on the conference website.

Following on from successful conferences held since 2006, the EPS and CLEO®/Europe in collaboration with the Chairs of ECOC 2014 are delighted to announce the organisation of a special CLEO Focus Meeting on Fundamental Photonics for Future Telecommunications, as part of ECOC 2014. New developments and trends on emerging and highly forward-looking research in photonics will be at the heart of this special CLEO Focus Meeting, complementary to the regular ECOC sessions. The meeting will showcase state of the art results which bridge the gap between basic science and applications. The scope includes, but is not limited to, nanophotonics, nonlinear optics, novel materials, novel devices, nonlinear dynamics, quantum optics, emerging ultrafast technologies, new concepts in optical manipulation and wave guiding etc. The submission for post deadline papers is now open. The deadline for submission is Monday 8 September at 23:59 CEST. Further information can be found on the conference website.
