Applications are open for the 2014 Innovation Award in Laser Technology, jointly presented biannually by the European Laser Institute [ELI] and the Arbeitskreis Lasertechnik e.V. [AKL]. Since 2008, ELI and AKT have awarded the prize to an individual or a group in recognition of outstanding research in the field of applied laser research in Europe.

The range of possible fields extends from the development of a new laser beam source and systems for the use in laser material processing to the qualification of innovative laser manufacturing processes for use in an industrial production environment. The jury takes into account the proven commercial benefit of the work.

The laureate(s) will receive the sum of €10,000 and will be nominated as Fellows of AKL and ELI. The official presentation of the award will take place at the International Laser Technology Congress AKL’14 on 7 May 2014 in Aachen, Germany.

Applications have to be submitted in English by e-mail no later than 17 January 2014.
More information can be found on the award website.
