The European Society for Applied Superconductivity [ESAS] Summer School on “New Trends with Superconducting Detectors” will be held in Genoa, Italy, from 9-13 September 2013. The school is organised in co-operation with the Italian National Council of Research [CNR], the University of Genoa and the University of Naples.

The school aims to provide an up-to-date scientific and technological review of superconductivity applied to the wide fields of the electronics, devices and detectors. The basic knowledge of the superconducting phenomenology that is functional to both the present technical and scientific developments is given principally in highly didactic lectures. These basics concepts are enriched with topical seminars on specialized aspects that are of great interest for fundamental and applied science: computing, quantum optics and communication, energy dispersive spectroscopy, particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology, biology and metrology.

The school is proposed to European students and young scientists interested in exploring the field of “low power” superconductivity for application in high precision measurements and high performance devices. One of the purposes of this school is to bring together participants and leading scientists that are active in the field in an intense week of exchange. Participants are invited to present their projects and results in short posters.

The school is mainly targeted at post-graduate students and young industry professionals who wish to broaden their skills or insights into the possibilities offered by this emerging technology.

More information can be found on the school website.
