Petition for an increased EU Budget for Research and Innovation
The European Commission, under the leadership of Commissioner Carlos Moedas, has recently published its proposal for Horizon Europe, the upcoming European Research and Innovation Programme for the period from 2021 to 2027.
European Parliament in support of Research and Innovation
In its plenary session of October 26th 2016 at Strasbourg, the European Parliament (EP) expressed its position with respect to the Draft Budget for the European Union for 2017. The EP reiterates its commitment to research and growth supported by appropriate funding.
The new team of the European Commission
On 22 October 2014, the European Parliament approved the new European Commission [EC] team presented by Jean-Claude Juncker, who started their term of office on 1 November 2014.
The President Jean-Claude Junker put forward his agenda and presented his team earlier this year. In ten policy areas, he focused in particular on “a new boost for jobs, growth and investment”, “a connected digital single market”, and “a resilient energy union with a forward-looking climate change policy”, to quote the first priorities in the list.
