Call for bids for the organisation of the EPS-HEP 2021 Conference

The HEPP Board of the European Physical Society is soliciting Expressions of Interest (EoI) from potential hosts of the EPS-HEP conference in 2021. These EoIs should contain information on the Local Organizing Committee, the Universities and/or Laboratories involved, the location of the conference, the foreseen costs and the expected financial contribution from sources other than conference fees.

Editorial – From Particles to the Cosmos at EPS HEP 2017 in Venice

Close to a thousand physicists from all over the world gathered in July 2017 at the European Physical Society Conference on High Energy Physics (EPS-HEP) in Venice, Italy. The HEPP division of the EPS played the role of the International Organising Committee and the conference was organised by Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN) and the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Padova.

BEPCII broke luminosity record at charm energy region

On 5 April 2016, the BEPCII, upgrade of the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC), broke the luminosity record again in the charm energy region by 10.0´1032cm-2s-1, and reached its design luminosity at the optimised beam energy of 1.89 GeV as well.

EPS HEP 2015 in Vienna

Physicists from all over the world gathered in Vienna in July 2015 for the biennial European Physical Society Conference on High Energy Physics, organized for the first time in the Austrian city of music, and chaired by Prof. Jochen Schieck from the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. About 750 physicists joined from the 22nd to the 29th of July to profit from 425 parallel talks, 194 posters, and 41 plenary talks covering the latest experimental and theoretical work in physics of particle colliders, neutrinos, heavy ions, astroparticles, and cosmology, as well as detector and machine developments. This was completed by a strong physics outreach program, and a rich social program including an exceptional concert.

The European Physical Society Conference on High Energy Physics [EPS-HEP] is one of the major international conferences that reviews the field of high energy physics every second year. The High Energy and Particle Physics Division of the European Physical Society has organised this conference since its beginning in 1971. The LHC is waking up

Many theories consider sleeping as a boost in human performance. This is exactly what is happening at the LHC at CERN. After almost 2 years of silent signal, sections of the LHC are reactivated one by one with upgraded performance. The wake-up period will last for the next few months until the 13 TeV physics programme can fully begin in 2015.
Even if no data measurements are currently underway in the LHC, many things have happened during the 18-month shutdown that began in 2013. Indeed, major upgrades have been undertaken, in particular regarding the proton synchrotron and the super proton synchrotron. Incredible efforts have been deployed to upgrade…
