Chemical elements which make up mobile phones placed on ‘endangered list’

Chemical elements which make up mobile phones are included on an ‘endangered list’ in a landmark version of the Periodic Table to mark its 150th anniversary. The European Chemical Society (EuChemS) launched in January 2019  the unique updated table to highlight the elements which could run out within a century.

The EPS statement– Managing the transition of Open Access Publication, released last month was the result of wide and lively discussions among various EPS partner societies, internal and external to the EPS.

Meanwhile, as a demonstration of the relevance of global Open Access, CERN has confirmed the start of the SCOAP3 initiative for high-energy particle physics on 1 January 2014.

EPS and EuCheMS are joining forces

On the occasion of the EPS Council 2013 in Strasbourg, a memorandum of understanding [MoU] was signed between the European Association for Chemical and Molecular Societies [EuCheMS] and the European Physical Society [EPS] by presidents Ulrich Schubert and Luisa Cifarelli.

What a nice initiative from the EuCheMS president Ulrich Schubert to invite me to participate in the General Assembly of the European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences. This took place on 11-12 October 2012 in Dublin, in the beautiful library of the Irish Royal Academy.
