2016 Kavli Laureates for Nanoscience Honoured at Symposium

30 years and 9,000 citations later the inventors of the atomic force microscope (AFM) were recognized last year with the Kavli Prize in Nanoscience “for the invention and realization of atomic force microscopy (AFM), a breakthrough in measurement technology and nanosculpting that continues to have a transformative impact on nanoscience and technology.”

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the Nobel Prize in Physics 2016 with one half to David J. Thouless (University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA) and the other half to F. Duncan M. Haldane (Princeton University, NJ, USA) and J. Michael Kosterlitz (Brown University, Providence, RI, USA)
