10 September: David Lee, EPS Secretary General, attended the meeting of the Initiative for Science in Europe in Brussels.

25 September: Rüdiger Voss, EPS President, Luc Bergé, member of the EPS Executive Committee and David Lee met in Paris to decide the next actions related to the associate membership policy of the EPS, to the Equal Opportunity Committee and to help oppressed Turkish physicists.

25 September: Frédéric Burr, EPL Staff-editor, attended the EPL Management Committee meeting in Paris.

26 September: Rüdiger Voss, David Lee and Frédéric Burr participated in the meeting of the EPL Association Board of Directors meeting in Paris.

28 September 2018: Rüdiger Voss chaired the ceremony to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the EPS in Geneva. The EPS staff (Patricia Helfenstein, Ophélia Fornari, Xavier de Araujo, David Lee, Sylvie Loskill, Ahmed Ouarab, Pascaline Padovani, Gina Gunaratnam, Frédéric Burr, Kévin Desse, Soufiane Fila) attended the EPS-50 Festakt together with several members of the EPS Executive Committee.

Throughout the month of September, Luc Bergé and the EPS Staff prepared the launch of the 1st Call for the Letokhov Medal, jointly with the QEOD and AMOPD chairs and the Russian Institute of Spectroscopy.

Report on EPS-QEOD Europhoton Conference 2018

The 8th EPS-QEOD Europhoton Conference was held in the city of Barcelona, on the Mediterranean coast of Spain, from 2-7 September 2018.

This biennial conference, which is focused on photonics, has been held in different locations across Europe since its inaugural conference in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2004.
