On 1st December 2017, the Emmy Noether distinction was presented to Dr. Catalina Curceanu (Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati, INFN, Italy), by the EPS Equal Opportunity Committee (EOC) Chair, on behalf of the EPS.

The event took place during the inspiring and well-attended Workshop “New frontiers in testing quantum mechanics from underground to the space” held at the Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati (Italy) in the “aula Conversi”, a conference hall named after the renowned physicist Marcello Conversi, one of founding fathers of modern particle physics.

The Workshop, sponsored by the Museo Storico della Fisica e Centro Studi e Ricerche Enrico Fermi, Roma, by INFN and by the John Templeton Foundation, was an ideal occasion to present the distinction to Dr. Catalina Curceanu. During the celebration, her close colleagues illustrated her numerous and outstanding contributions to pioneering studies on foundational issues, underlying in this way how much her work is appreciated.
