The Autumn-Winter 2015 Emmy Noether Distinction presented to Sibylle Günter

On 4 July 2016, the Autumn-Winter 2015 Emmy Noether Distinction was presented to Prof. Sibylle Günter, Director at the Max Planck Society and Director of the Max-Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, Garching, Germany, by Prof. Quang Tran, member of the Executive Committee of EPS, on behalf of the EPS President.

The event took place in Leuven, Belgium at the opening session of the 43rd EPS Conference on Plasma Physics. For the occasion, Prof. Quang Tran gave a short presentation including the aim of the distinction and the key points of the prize recipient’s career. In her response, Prof. Sibylle Günter, after thanking the EPS for the honour, showed a short presentation on the situation of women in science and outlined a few ways to increase their numbers.

The event was organised by the Chair of the Program Conference, Dr. Paola Mantica.
