EPS Executive & Staff activity for April 2016

1 to 2 April: the members of the EPS secretariat, as well as the EPL editorial office, attended the EPS Council in Mulhouse, France, to welcome participants. Ari T. Friberg, member of the EPS Executive Committee, attended the EPS Council meeting and John Dudley, EPS Vice-President, gave a talk on the International Year of Light 2015 activities. Christophe Rossel, EPS President, chaired the EPS Council 2016 in Mulhouse.

5 April 2016: Christophe Rossel, EPS President, invited to the special meeting for the DPG presidential transfer of power at the Magnus-Haus in Berlin. Meeting with the past president Edward Krubasik and the new president Rolf-Dieter Heuer.

7 April 2016: David Lee, EPS Secretary General, attended the workshop on the H2020 mid-term review organised by the Initiative for Science in Europe, in Brussels (BE).

12 April 2016: Christophe Rossel, EPS President, and David Lee, EPS Secretary General, on video conference call with Jef Ongena, chair of Energy Group and Luc van Dyck, consultant to EPS on the EPS contribution to the H2020 mid-term review, in particular on Societal Challenge ‘Secure, Clean and Efficient Energy’.

15 April: David Lee, EPS Secretary General, Frédéric Burr, EPL Staff Editor, and Christophe Rossel, EPS President and Chair of the Board, attended the EPL Board of Directors that took place in Mulhouse.

19 April: Ari T. Friberg attended the European Physical Journal (EPJ) Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting in Mulhouse, France and discussed the issue “How to create a sense among European physicists of being stakeholders of EPJ?”

25-26 April 2016: Christophe Rossel, EPS President, together with Zsolt Fülöp participated in INNOVEIT2016, the innovation forum of the EIT (European Institute of Innovation &Technology) in Budapest, Hungary, meeting different high- level EU Parliament and Commission representatives, among them Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation.

27 April 2016: Christophe Rossel, EPS President, and David Lee, EPS Secretary General, on video conference with Magnus Nordberg, chair of the EPS Technology and Innovation Group to discuss the new strategies and actions.

The 43rd European Physical Society Conference on Plasma Physics will be held in Leuven, Belgium, from 4 to 8 July 2016.

This conference is part of the series of European Physical Society (EPS) conferences on plasma physics, encompassing the fields of fusion research, laser-plasma interaction and inertial confinement fusion, as well as dusty and low temperature plasmas.
