EPS Executive and Staff activity for August 2015

10 August: John Dudley, EPS vice-president, represented EPS at an international summer school in Tampere, Finland, presenting progress on IYL2015.

16 August: David Lee, EPS Secretary General, attended the General Meeting if the International Association of Physcis Students, in Zagreb, Croatia

24-28 August: Christophe Rossel, EPS president, attended the 11th International Conference on Materials and Mechanisms of Superconductivity M2S 2015 in Geneva, CH, chairing the session on Applications.

27 August: John Dudley, EPS vice-president, and David Lee, EPS Secretary General, met with representatives of the French Physical Society during their annual meeting in Strasbourg, France.  John Dudley delivered a plenary lecture on the International Year of Light and contemporary topics in optics research.

August: Balázs Horváth, intern ant the EPS secretariat, wrote a report on open access. Marian Reiffers, member of the EPS Executive Committee, participated and prepared the programme and the conference of Slovak physicists in connection with a special lecture devoted to the International Year of Light and presented the EPS activities.

ICMFS-2015 – international colloquium on magnetic films

The 22nd international colloquium on magnetic films [ICMFS-2015] and surfaces took place from 12-17 July 2015 in Kraków, Poland. ICMFS-2015 continues the tradition of previous colloquia started in 1964 in London and brings together scientists from all areas of magnetism in lower dimensions. The Colloquium aims at exchange of new results and ideas for advancing the field of magnetism at surfaces, interfaces, in micro- and nanostructures as well as of spin-dependent phenomena.
