EPS Executive and Staff activity for July 2015
The EPS works to support its members. Find below the list of activities of the EPS Executive Committee and staff for July 2015:
1 July: John Dudley, EPS vice-president, represented EPS and IYL2015 at a meeting during ICMAT 2015 in Singapore hosted by IYL2015 Founding Partner IEEE Photonics Society on potential IYL follow-up actions.
2-3 July: Christophe Rossel, EPS president, visited the EPS Secretariat to meet the EPS staff, delivered a plenary talk on nano-science and -technology to the PhD students of the Ecole Doctorale of the Université de Haute Alsace [UHA] in Mulhouse and presented the EPS prizes to the 3 best PhD presentations.
3 July: Christophe Rossel and David Lee, EPS secretary general, attended a committee meeting at KIT in Karlsruhe (DE) on the future planning of the Energy Science and Technology [EST] Conferences at the Karlsruhe Congress Centre.
7 July: Kees van der Beek, chair of the EPS Condensed Matter Division, met with the EPS team in Mulhouse to discuss the division’s needs.
7 July: Marian Reiffers, member of the EPS Executive Committee, met with Marc Kunzmann – representative salesman of QUANTUM DESIGN – Lot Oriel during international conference on magnetism ICM 2015 in Barcelona, Spain. Discussions were held on the possibility of sponsorship.
16 July: In San Sebastian [ES] Christophe Rossel met with Pedro Miguel Echenique, president, and Ricardo Diez Muiño, director of the Donostia International Physics Center Foundation [DIPC] and visited also the nanoscience cooperative research center [CIC nanoGUNE] in the company of Giorgio Benedek, EPL editor-in-chief.
20-21 July: Angela Bracco, member of the EPS Executive Committee, chaired a session and gave concluding remarks on behalf of EPS at the Celebration Symposium “Light & Life” at villa Monastero in Varenna, organized jointly by the Italian Physical Society [SIF], the Italian Astronomical Society [SAIt], the Italian Society of Optics and Photonics [SIOF] and the Italian Synchrotron Radiation Society [SILS].
