EPS Executive and Staff activity for June 2015

The EPS works to support its members. Find below the list of activities of the EPS Executive Committee and staff for June 2015:

  • 2 June: David Lee, EPS secretary General and Gina Gunaratnam, communication coordinator, attended the EPN Core Group meeting in Paris (FR). G. Gunaratnam met with Jessica Ekon from EDP Sciences.
  • 8 June: John Dudley, vice-president of EPS spoke at a special session of the UNESCO Executive Board innovation for development featuring keynote speaker Nobel laureate Hiroshi Amano.
  • 9 June: Elisabeth Rachlew, EPS Executive Committee member, attended a meeting of the Swedish Physical Society Board in Trondheim (NO).
  • 10 June: Christophe Rossel, EPS president, attended the Executive Committee meeting of the Swiss Physical Society in Bern (CH).
  • 10 to 12 June: Elisabeth Rachlew, EPS Executive Committee member, attended the Nordic Physical Society days, Trondheim (NO).
  • 12 June: Christophe Rossel, EPS president, was invited as president of EPS to a meeting of the DPG Executive Committee at the Magnus-Haus in Berlin (DE) to present EPS plans and discuss international strategies.
  • 18 June: Marain Reiffers, EPS Executive Committee member, participated at a comittee of the Slovak Phyisical Society.
  • 16 June: David Lee and Balázs Horváth, EPS intern, attended the Initiative for Science in Europe’s General Assembly in Cologne (DE).
  • 17 to 20 June: Zsolt Fülöp, EPS Executive Committee member, attended the prize winning ceremony of learning-light-competition, Science on Stage festival, London (UK).
  • 21 June: David Lee, Jorge Rivero and John Dudley attended the meeting of the International Steering Committee of the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies 2015 in Munich (DE).
  • 21 to 25 June: EPS organised the CLEO®/Europe-EQEC 2015 conferences that took place in Munich (DE).  Patricia Helfenstein, Pascaline Padovani, Ciara Casserly, Sylvie Loskill, Ahmed Ouarab, Xavier De Araujo, Jorge Rivero, Ophélia Fornari, Zahra Oulmakhzen, Balázs Horváth and Gina Gunaratnam attended the conferences to organise the registration process, on site poster sessions, International Year of Light and Award events.
  • 21 to 25 June: John Dudley, vice-president of EPS attended the World of Photonics Congress in Munich, convening a Steering Committee meeting of the International Year of Light, Moderating the Opening Ceremony of the Congress, and speaking at a Career Development Session co-hosted by LIGHT2015 Project and SPIE.
  • 22 June: EPS organised a visit of high level policy makers to the Laser Munich trade fair, Munich (DE).
  • 23 June: David Lee and Patricia Helfenstein attended the board meeting of the Quantum Electronic and Optics Division in Munich (DE).
  • 24 June: David Lee and Patricia Helfenstein attended the CLEO®/Europe-EQEC Steering Committee Meeting in Munich (DE).
  • 24 June: Christophe Rossel, EPS president, attended a meeting in Zurich (CH) to exchange views on future joint projects between the Swiss Physical Society and the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences SATW.
  • 25 June: David Lee and Patricia Helfenstein attended the Steering Committee Meeting of the World of Photonics Congress 2015 held together with the Industrial Advisory Board Meeting in Munich (DE).
  • 28 to 30 June: John Dudley, vice-president of EPS attended the Opening Ceremony of the Photonics Global Conference in Singapore, representing EPS and the International Year of Light.
  • 28 June – 2 July: Elisabeth Rachlew, EPS Executive Committee member, attended the Swedish meeting, Energy, Almedalen (SW).
  • 29 June: Lucia di Ciaccio visited the EPS Secretariat in Mulhouse (FR).
