The symposium “From Fundamental Physics to Societal Applications” [IZEST-Tokyo] will take place in Tokyo, Japan, from 18-20 November 2013.

In the framework of the International Coherent Amplification Network programme [ICAN], the symposium will discuss the possible applications of the Zetta-Exawatt Science and Technology [IZEST]. Amplifications, allowed by extreme energetic and peak powered laser beam, offer new horizons to the high-energy physics. Among the applications discussed will be particle colliders, nuclear transmutation, proton therapy, nuclear pharmacology, identification of spent fuel in general and homeland security.

This symposium is going to be hosted by the French Embassy in Tokyo with the participation of the most prominent Asian laboratories in particle physics, and ultra intense lasers in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, India as well as Europe and USA.

More information are available on the symposium website.
