The IMDM’4 Conference is an international event to discuss the current research on electrical insulation, dielectric phenomena and related topics. The conference will provide an opportunity for specialists from around the world to meet and to discuss ongoing research. More than 200 scientists and engineers from around twenty countries will attend this event and present their latest works.

Topics of interest to the Conference include:

  • Physics of space charge in non-conductive materials. Polymers, Composites, Ceramics, Glasses, Biodielectrics and nanodielectrics, Meta-materials, Piezoelectric, Pyroelectric and Ferroelectric materials.
  • Dielectric properties, polarization phenomena, Charge storage and transport, High-field effects, Energy localisation and thermodynamics of charged insulators, Space charge characterization techniques, Aging, Partial discharges, Electrical breakdowns, Friction, Treeing, High-field effects.
  • Modeling and theory.
  • Measurement techniques.
  • Industrial and biomedical applications.

Abstract submission deadline is on 30 January 2013.

More information are available on the conference website.

SESAME progressing

The Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East [SESAME] is a “third-generation” synchrotron light source being constructed in Jordan. SESAME, the Middle East's first major international research centre, is a cooperative venture by scientists and governments of the region. It is being developed under the auspices of UNESCO.

At the Council meeting of 12-13 November 2012, SESAME Council Members, and scientific and technical staff...
