The European Physical Society [EPS] Quantum Electronics and Optics Division has established two new prizes this month: the EPS Prize for Research into the Science of Light and the EPS Prize for Research in Laser Science and Applications.

The EPS Prize for Research in Laser Science and Applications is awarded in recognition of recent work – by no more than three individuals – which displays scientific excellence in the field of laser science, and its and application, in its broadest sense.

The EPS Prize for Research into the Science of Light is awarded in recognition of recent work – by no more than three individuals – which displays scientific excellence in the field of electromagnetic science in its broadest sense: across the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

Both new awards will be presented on a biennial basis, and are accompanied by prize money to the sum of 2,000 euros. For more information, please visit the European Physical Society website.

You are right.
Nomination deadline for the Light Prize is the 1st October 2012 (and not 2013).
