Nominations open for the 2013 Prism Awards

Nominations are open for the 2013 Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation. The awards – given by publishing company Photonics Media and SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics – commemorate excellence in innovation and technology within the optics and photonics industry.

Prism Awards are given in the following categories: defence and security; detectors, sensing, imaging and cameras; green photonics and sustainable energy; industrial lasers; information and communication; life sciences and biophotonics; optics and optical components; other light sources; scientific lasers; and test, measurement, metrology.

The awards will be presented in February next year, during a VIP ceremony at the Photonics West conference in San Francisco.

Past winners of the awards – which were launched in 2008 – include Edmund Optics, General Electric and Coherent, IPG Photonics, JenLab, nanoplus and WITec.
