News,

In conjunction with the Asia Europe Physics Summit conference, the European Physical Society Executive Committee met in Wroclaw, Poland, on 25 October 2011.

The open session of the committee was, of course, dedicated to meeting representatives from the Polish Physical Society and the Wroclaw University Physics Department. The committee also learned of the impressive scientific and economic situation of the Wroclaw region.

During its business meeting, the Executive Committee started to prepare the 2012 budget. They also discussed several educational topics, as well as projects of interest to the EPS member societies.

The Executive Committee looks forward to the launch of the new European Physical Society website, which will offer many new functionalities.

The member area, for example, will feature a searchable key word directory of EPS members, and will provide free access to journals. In addition, the Alliance for Physics Publishing will offer a showcase of European physics journals.

The new site will also incorporate the electronic newsletter, e-EPS, which already has over 35,000 subscribers after 6 months of publishing.

The full executive summary is available on MyPhys.
